Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson - born Jacqueline Luesby to Chris Watson and Jacqueline Luesby, two British lawyers - was born on July 8, 1989 in Paris. When she was just five years old and moved to Oxfordshire and enrolled in an Oxfordshire-based Dragon School. Emma chose to be an actor when she was six. For several years, she attended the Oxford branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts part-time school. There she learned singing dance, acting and singing. By the time she turned 10, she had already taken part in numerous Stagecoach plays and productions. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) was the movie version from J.K. Rowlings bestselling novel was first cast for the first time at the beginning of 1999. Emma was initially discovered as a casting representative by her Oxford drama teacher. David Heyman announced to Emma that after eight consecutive auditions they as well as Rupert Grint were chosen as Hermione and Harry Potter. Emma's first cinematic appearance was with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in 2001. This film was 2001's highest earning film, smashing records at the opening and the very first weekend. Reviewers have been highly lauding the film as well as the performances by the three principal young actors. The Daily Telegraph praised Emma for her outstanding performance. Emma was awarded five nominations for her outstanding performance. Later, she won the Young Artist Award in Leading Young Actress in a Film.
